Why are you holding onto that?~~
Why are you holding onto that is a question I ask my clients? One of my hats that I wear is closet organizer. The phone call comes in and I hear the person say, “I need help organizing”. “What part of your home are you thinking about?” is my reply. They usually will say one area and then say, “the whole house”.
When I am at their home, I like to look at the whole house. It gives me a bigger picture of what is going on and gives me creative storage and organizational ideas.
As I walk through each room, I may ask a question like, “What’s happening in this area?” Most people reply, “I don’t know, it’s just a mess”. Then comes the question from me, “ Why are you holding onto that?” There is something about verbalizing the whys that help women began to release the clutter. If it feels super tough I ask, “Does it bring you joy?”
Life can be like closet organizing. It’s the question of what is happening in your life? It could be an activity or an excuse, but it’s stopping you from living the life that you want. The next question is still, “ why are you holding onto that?” Many times, when you say it out loud it causes you to stop and really think, does this bring me joy?
Once you understand why do what you do, the steps to living an uncluttered life and achieving your goals become easier. For more information, contact me.
