What makes you happy ~~
Have you ever thought about what makes you happy ? Growing up I was a little bit hyper and talked a lot. I know?! Shock. You know what, talking to people made me happy. Walking the trails in the woods made me happy, except if I ran into a spider web. That would really creep me out.
I had a challenging time sitting still in school and still do. I am happy when I am moving around with things to do. Sitting and watching TV doesn’t always make me happy. One of the things that I have found is that society places “norms” on people. We are all unique and should celebrate our differences. Society rules are important, for example it is not appropriate to run in stores.
As an adult, I had the tendency to march to the beat of a different drummer. Other people would still try to tell me what proper behavior was. It was annoying and made me feel self-conscious for other to say, “you talk too much, you need to act proper”. What does that even mean? Somewhere after turning 50, I began to celebrate who I am. I love talking to people and encouraging them, especially over a cup of coffee.
You know what happened? Women began saying, “thank you for talking to me, Lisa”, “thank you for being real”, and “I needed to hear that”. Becoming a home organizer has allowed me the opportunity to meet and help so many women.
Last week a friend and I took a walk along the Houston Arboretum Nature Trails. It was beautiful to see all the trees, flowers, birds, turtles, green moss, and the intricate spider webs. I stayed a safe distance from the spider web. It was beautiful, but from 10 feet away.
So now, I’d like for you to write a list of everything that makes you happy. The simple things and the outrageous things. It feels good to be thankful for the things that make you happy.
