Happy New Years Day~~
Happy New Years Day! (yep that’s a typo, but that’s another blog) After going full speed this past month, I decided to relax last night and today.
New Year’s Eve was very reflective for me. It was time to think of what occurred in 2016, a lot of negative stuff rolled through my head. The year started with both of my sons getting married; very happy with a new title to maneuver, “mother in-law”. My husband, in the oil and gas industry, was laid off. Thankfully, we have savings, but are not ready for him to retire. It has been stressful to say the least with him being home all the time, most will understand that, and using the “b” word – budget.
At times I focus on the current problems of life and forget about all the small blessings. One morning, before rolling out of bed I thought, “I sure like this bed” and in an instant I thought about all the people who do not have a comfortable bed or a safe place to call home. There are those who are fighting cancer, death of a loved one, fires, tornadoes, floods, the lonely, the homeless, and the list goes on.
As a home organizer, one of the things I love to do is motivate and encourage my clients. Here is a challenge for the New Year; it may sound cliché, but write a list of everything you are thankful for and goals you have accomplished. It definitely improves your mood. The next thing to do is write a list of things that you want to do or places that you want to go. Now, write what it will take to accomplish those goals. Keep both of the lists next to your bed. If you feel discouraged refer back to your list of things you are thankful for.
By the way, I did have cabbage today just not black eyed peas!
