A Day Off~~
A day off is important. I have this habit of running 90 miles a minute. I know in theory we are to take a day off and rest, but at times I don’t do it. I feel like I am always on. If I stay at home I feel like I can’t rest. There is always the need to either grocery shop, cook, clean, dishes, laundry, etc. There are times when a family member needs your attention. Then there is office work for my business.
Seems like there is always something to do in life, oh that reminds me I need to water the plants.
Bored is never quite the word for me. I sit down and my mind just keeps thinking of everything to do. I don’t like the habit of working on Sundays, but somehow I was not taking off on Sundays. After over a month with no day off, I knew it was catching up to me. I was not able to think clearly, but I had deadlines with clients, moves, and estate sales.
I received a Facebook invite to a celebration at a ranch about an hour and a half away. It seemed too far to drive for a few hours. I called the hostess and asked, “Where is the closest bed and breakfast to stay near where you guys are?” Her reply, “You and Joe just stay with us”.
The ranch it was absolutely beautiful and peaceful; all the land, trees, pond, pool, and an amazing wrap around porch. It felt good to enjoy perfect weather. We were not the only guest, so I enjoyed visiting with many people over a great meal! Somewhere in the late afternoon I took a nap. Most of us sat outside and talked well into the night. Waking up in the country was gorgeous and my host cooked a fabulous breakfast. Somewhere mid-morning I took a nap. We visited a little longer before heading out. Somewhere in the early afternoon when we got back home I took a nap. It’s good to be busy, but it’s very important to take time off. We were not created to work non-stop. I sometimes forget and for me I needed to geographically be away from my home for a much needed day off. This is basic time management that I have to do for myself as well as teach my clients.
