Are you ready for the holidays? It is mid-October and the holidays are around the corner. Walking into the grocery store, I love the to smile at the sights and smells. Fall is all things pumpkin and cinnamon. It brings back fond memories of enormous meals surrounded by relatives and lively conversations. Well, maybe a few loud disagreements. I enjoyed being a part of a big Italian family.
Are you ready for the holidays, are you thinking about the holidays, or do you usually wait until last minute? With my ever full to do list in my planner complete with family, clients, office work, and life; I did make the first step. I texted my sister and asked if we can do Thanksgiving dinner at my house. My next thoughts as I was laying in bed, later that night, instead of sleeping was what are we going to eat?
As a professional organizer, I have people calling asking me for help with getting their homes ready for the holidays. A few areas that people want help with is making sure the guest bathroom looks nice, pantry organization, organizing the holiday decoration closets, and what to do with all the paperwork and clutter on the dining room table.
My favorite hands -down story is:
A woman called me up asking for me to help organize her pantry. When I got to her home it what a cluttered mess. The woman looked at me and said, “My snotty, nosey cousin is going to come in my house and go straight to my pantry and say something about it. You know hers is perfect”. When I got into her pantry the process was easy:
- Take everything out
- Wipe down the shelves
- Discard expired items
- Group like with like
- Used her favorite cute containers (Pinterest and Instagram are filled with great ideas for your style)
