Whats your background ~~
Whats your background ? I was born and raised in a very loud and opinionated Italian family. One grandparent is from the northern portion of Palermo, Sicily. On the other side of the family, one grandparent is from the northern portion of Palermo. My home growing up was a 900-square foot home that was very cluttered. Unfortunately, there was abuse in my home.
I have heard it said that our background does not define us, but it does affect us. My home is very tidy because I had a messy home growing up. As a home organizer, I have had clients say to me, “My house is messy, because my mom was messy”. A friend said to me, “My house is messy, because my dad was so OCD clean it stressed me out”. Interesting?
My background was the working class and low-income. Out of four siblings, two went to college right after high school. Growing up I was told often that I couldn’t write, I would never be a leader, and other things. Today, I have 2 published books, a professional organizing company, and a paid speaker. I am still dreaming and doing things that I never thought possible. Why, because I read inspirational articles and finally had the courage to step out. Another thing that helped was surrounding myself with people who were leaders and believed in me. Thankful that people encouraged and motivated me.
Look at your life now. Are you where you want to be? Remember your background does not define you. Whether you were poor, with divorced parents, or even abused. Sit down and write your thoughts and dreams. Be as creative and outrageous as you want to be. Do research. Hire coaches and consultants to assist you. What are you waiting for? You can do it!
