Looking Ahead To A New Year~~
While looking ahead to a New Year sounds positive; what action are you going to take? I have to admit in years past my resolutions were sort of cliché and without a realistic plan.
2017 was quite a year for my family. My husband was laid off Spring 2016 and the financial strain was taking its toll. We were thankful for the 401K that held us over and as of November,2017 he is employed. It was an intense year for me business wise because working as a Professional Home Organizer now meant helping to support my household. This was the first time I felt the pressure of earning money.
In March, a close friend looked at me and said, “You are ignoring your message of Uncluttered.” This was probably the beginning of a turning point for me. With two family members passing this year and Hurricane Harvey, I realized what really mattered in life. During the past year I had read a lot of books and articles and with my reading I took notes, created check lists, and blogged. Attending culturally diverse conferences was such an experience for me. Finally, with the help of a few close friends and my therapist; I decided to give myself permission to own my story and life.
Permission to stand up and say, “No, I won’t allow that”, “Yes, this is what I believe and what I will do”. Even now typing this my heart is racing. November, I completed my first “official” vision board. This was huge because I would write my goals and tape them on my bathroom mirror, but a vision board feels great. These things have assisted me in being more specific on what I work on and give my attention to.
I am truly looking forward to this New Year ahead of me with new adventures. Stay tuned.
