Confidence for the New Year ~~
I have found great strength and confidence for the New Year that I would like to share with you. From the time I was a little girl at home and even into my adulthood, people felt the need to tell me what I couldn’t do or be. In middle school, one of my teachers made fun of my creative writing project and said I couldn’t write. I have two published books and a blog page due to my persistence to not quit and with editing assistance. Imagine what would have happened if I never tried again.
The year that my momma passed, I finally decided to go back to the gym. There was such a knot in my stomach when the girl at the front desk made a sarcastic comment to me, “Well, where have you been?” Not wanting to answer or feel criticized by this person, I consequently quit going to the gym. I didn’t stop exercising, I chose not to go back to that place.
There was a supervisor at work who made a point to tell me, “You are not leadership material, you are little out there and talk too much”. The same supervisor said, “You look pretty without makeup, but much better with it on”. I couldn’t fit into her box and finally quit.
I am not a quitter, but I get frustrated when someone says, “You can’t do that, you can’t get a refund on this, or no one is going to help you with that”. When I started my home organizing business, I began to see a shift in my confidence. Doors were opening; people were paying me to help them or speak to their group. I was also being interviewed on television and invited to amazing events.
But you know, I still needed a mind shift. Years of verbal abuse growing up had taken its toll; I was so thankful that in 2013, God sent a new person into my life to be a friend, cheerleader, and mentor. I am still working on having confidence, being happy with me and who I am. For all the negative things that have happened in my life: no regrets, lessons learned, strength gained, my faith has kept me.
You too can have confidence this year. For more information, contact me.
